Hidden Costs of Digital Wedding Invitations: What Couples Should Know

Extra revisions, language versions, express fees, watermarks, subscriptions and the cost of your own time. The hidden costs of digital wedding invitations, and how to avoid them.

A digital wedding invitation looks like one of the simplest purchases of your wedding. Pick a design, pay once, share a link. Most of the time, that is exactly how it works. But sometimes the final bill is bigger than the price you first saw, or a "free" option turns out to cost something else.

Here are the hidden costs of digital wedding invitations that couples should know about before they choose, and simple ways to avoid each one.

1. Extra revision rounds

What happens: most invitation services include a fixed number of revision rounds. Each round is one set of changes. Couples who send changes one at a time, or keep changing their minds, use up their rounds quickly and pay for extra ones.

How to avoid it:

  • Collect all your details carefully before ordering.
  • Have one elder from each side check names before you submit.
  • Gather all changes into a single list before sending them.
  • Ask how a "round" is defined and what extra rounds cost.

At Artgrafy, Essential includes two rounds, Premium four and Royal seven, and small text fixes after delivery are always free.

2. Extra language versions

What happens: you choose a plan with one language, then realise you need a Gujarati version for relatives and an English version for friends.

How to avoid it: decide on languages before choosing a plan. If you need two, a plan that includes two is usually better value than adding one later. Our Premium plan includes two language versions, and an extra language version is ₹399 as an add on otherwise.

3. Express delivery

What happens: planning runs late, the wedding is close and you need the invitation tomorrow. Express delivery costs extra.

How to avoid it: start your invitation two to three months before the wedding. Express fees are entirely avoidable with a little planning.

4. Save the date pages

What happens: you buy the invitation, then decide you also want a matching save the date for guests travelling from abroad.

How to avoid it: if you might want one, choose a plan that includes it. Our Premium and Royal plans include a save the date page, while it is ₹499 as an add on with Essential.

5. Music and illustration

What happens: you assumed your song or a custom illustration was included, and it was not.

How to avoid it: read exactly what each plan includes. With us, background music of your choice comes with Premium and Royal, and a custom illustration comes with Royal or as a ₹999 add on.

6. "Free" apps that are not quite free

Free invitation apps can be great for simple events, but the cost often shows up elsewhere:

  • Watermarks or app branding on your invitation, removed only with payment
  • Ads shown to your guests
  • Low resolution exports unless you upgrade
  • Limited fonts, often without proper Gujarati or Devanagari support
  • No RSVP or updates, which cost you in phone calls and catering guesswork

7. Subscriptions for a one time event

What happens: some platforms charge monthly or yearly. You sign up for the wedding and forget to cancel.

How to avoid it: prefer one time pricing for a one time event. Our plans are a single payment per event, with no subscription or renewal.

8. Link expiry

What happens: some services keep your invitation live for only a few weeks or months, then charge to keep it online.

How to avoid it: ask how long the link stays active. Ours stays live for at least 12 months after your event.

9. When the date or venue changes

What happens: the muhurat changes or the venue moves, and you need a significant update.

How to avoid it: choose a format that can be updated. Invitation websites update on the same link. With images and videos, you pay for a new version and resend it. Read Wedding Invitation Website vs PDF vs Video.

10. Your own time

The cost nobody budgets for. A DIY invitation might be free, but it can take many evenings: learning the app, finding fonts that work in Hindi, fixing layouts, exporting, resending after mistakes. Then come the follow up calls from guests who cannot find the venue. Your time during wedding planning is precious. Paying a professional sometimes saves more than it costs.

11. The catering cost of no RSVP

This one is indirect but significant. An invitation without RSVP leaves you guessing your head count. Overestimating means paying for meals no one eats. Underestimating means scrambling on the day. A reliable RSVP is one of the best ways to control your largest wedding expense. Read How Digital Wedding Invitations Make RSVP Management Easier.

How small extras add up: an example

Imagine a couple who choose the cheapest plan on a platform to save money, and then:

  • Realise they need a second language for relatives
  • Decide to send a save the date to cousins abroad
  • Want their own song instead of a stock track
  • Send changes in five separate messages, using extra revision rounds
  • Order late and need express delivery

Each step seems small, but together they can cost more than a higher plan that included most of these from the start. Deciding needs early, and choosing the plan to match, is the simplest way to avoid this.

Questions to ask before you pay

  • What exactly is included in this price?
  • How many revision rounds, and what counts as a round?
  • Are extra languages included or extra?
  • Is a save the date included?
  • Is music included? Can I choose my own song?
  • Are there any watermarks or ads?
  • Is it a one time payment?
  • How long does the link stay live?
  • Can I update details after sending, and does that cost extra?

Our approach

We try to make pricing simple: three plans, a clear list of what each includes and optional add ons with fixed prices that you see before you pay. Compare everything on our plans page, and read our FAQ for details on revisions and delivery.

Questions couples ask us

Do you charge for small corrections after delivery?

No. Small text fixes after delivery are always free.

Is there any monthly fee?

No. You pay once per event.

What does an extra revision round cost?

If you need more rounds than your plan includes, we will tell you the cost before making any changes. Most couples stay within their rounds by sending changes together.

Which plan avoids the most add ons?

Premium includes the save the date, music and two languages. Royal includes everything, including illustration and unlimited languages.

No surprises

Most hidden costs come from unclear plans, late decisions or scattered changes. Choose a plan that matches your needs, decide languages early, collect changes together and plan ahead. Then your invitation will cost exactly what you expected. Read Digital Wedding Invitation Pricing: What Affects the Final Cost? for more.
