Destination Wedding Invitation Wording: 15 Examples for Your Guests
Formal, fun, beach, palace, abroad and intimate. Fifteen destination wedding invitation wordings you can adapt, plus the practical lines every destination invite needs.
A destination wedding invitation asks more of your guests than a regular one. You are not just asking them to come to a banquet hall across town. You are asking them to take leave, book flights, pack for three days and travel to Goa, Udaipur, Bali or Lake Como. The wording has to carry that excitement, and also gently prepare them for the commitment.
Here are fifteen destination wedding invitation wording examples for different styles and places, along with the practical lines that every destination invitation should include.
What destination wording needs to do
Good destination wording does four things:
- Invites warmly, just like any wedding invitation
- Names the destination clearly and with excitement
- Signals the commitment: multiple days, travel, stay
- Points to the details: travel, accommodation, itinerary and RSVP deadline
Formal and traditional
1. Formal, hosted by parents
"With the blessings of our elders, Smt. Neeta and Shri Rajesh Mehta request the honour of your presence at the wedding celebrations of their son Harsh with Janvi, to be held at the Leela Palace, Udaipur, from 10th to 12th December 2026."
2. Formal, both families
"The Mehta and Shah families joyfully invite you to join them in Udaipur for three days of celebration as Harsh and Janvi begin their journey together."
3. Traditional with a blessing
"॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥ With the divine blessings of Shri Ganesh and our elders, we invite you and your family to the city of lakes for the wedding of our daughter Riya with Arjun."
Warm and modern
4. Excited and inviting
"Pack your bags! Riya and Arjun are getting married in Goa, and we would love for you to be there for three days of sun, sand and celebration."
5. Personal and heartfelt
"We chose a place we love to marry the person we love, and we would love to share it with the people we love most. Please join us in Udaipur."
6. Short and stylish
"Riya and Arjun. Lake Como. September 2027. Will you join us?"
By destination
7. Beach wedding
"Toes in the sand, hearts full of love. Join us on the shores of Goa as Riya and Arjun tie the knot, from 5th to 7th February 2027."

12. Intimate destination wedding
"We are keeping our wedding small and close to our hearts, with only those we love most, in a little corner of Kerala. It would mean the world to have you there."
13. Destination wedding with a reception at home
"We are getting married in Goa with close family, and celebrating with everyone back home at a reception in Mumbai. We would love to see you at either, or both!"

Wording for the extra functions
Destination weddings often add events that city weddings do not have. A few lines for each:
- Welcome dinner: "You made it! Join us for a welcome dinner by the lake as the celebrations begin."
- Pool party: "Sun, music and a splash of colour. Join us poolside for the Haldi. Swimwear under your yellow is highly recommended."
- Sightseeing: "Saturday morning is free. Explore the old city with us, or sleep in. We won't judge."
- After party: "The wedding ends, the party doesn't. After party at the beach deck from 11 pm."
- Farewell brunch: "Before you head home, one last meal together. Farewell brunch on Sunday at 10 am."
Destination lines in regional languages
Practical lines every destination invitation needs
Beyond the main wording, include these, either as notes or as a travel section:
- Dates covered: "Celebrations from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th December."
- Where to stay: "Rooms have been reserved for our guests at the Leela Palace. Please share your arrival details."
- Who pays for what, said gently: "We are delighted to host your stay for three nights." or "A special rate has been arranged for our guests."
- Travel help: "Airport pickups will be arranged from Udaipur airport."
- RSVP deadline: "Kindly RSVP by 15th October so we can confirm your room."

Wording tips for destination weddings
- Be clear about hospitality. Guests need to know whether their stay is hosted, partly hosted or at their own expense. Vague wording causes awkward questions later.
- Give an earlier RSVP date. Hotels need confirmed numbers well in advance.
- Acknowledge the effort. A line like "We know it's a journey, and it means so much that you'd make it" is warm and appreciated.
- Make it easy to decline. Not everyone can travel. Gracious wording helps.
- Translate thoughtfully. For relatives, a version in Hindi, Gujarati or Marathi with the same practical details is often welcome. Our Premium plan includes two language versions.
Questions couples ask us
Should I mention who is paying for accommodation?
Yes, gently. Guests need to plan their budgets, and clarity prevents awkward conversations.
How far ahead should a destination invitation go out?
A save the date four to six months ahead, and the full invitation at least eight to ten weeks before. For weddings abroad, earlier is better.
Can I include a full itinerary in the invitation?
Yes. Each function can have its own card with date, time, venue and dress code, and you can add travel notes too.
Can the wording be in two languages?
Yes. Many families send a regional version to relatives and an English version to friends.
